I just love this picture from Sally Jane Vintage. I love the skirt. I have been stalking her blog for a while now and Sally Jane sells vintage clothes over on Ebay. Her photos always has this vintagy feel to it. I am looking of ways on how to replicate that.
Anyway, I was watching this documentary on the Fashion Channel last night about Haute (spelling??), pronounce like Oat, Couture. They featured John Galliano and Karl Lagerfield of Dior and Channel. Man. I never knew what went on during fashion week and about Club members. Yep the exclusive Club Members. They are the one that will actually buy Haute Couture. Not the designs that we see on the adverts or on celebs.
They did an interview with a few Club Members and one of them is the wife of the guy that founded Diner's Club. She had a few wardrobe filled with Haute Couture. She even had a tag on them telling her where and when she wore that dress or design. Another Club member actually said that, if she sees a design on an advert or on a celeb, she wouldn't wear it anymore. Wow. I wish I had that kind a money to burn.
When they buy piece of the Haute Couture runway, they actually had it custom made for the Club members. Some Club members will say, "Owh I do not like that sleeve on this dress. Take it off" and off it went. One piece may cost about $100K. WOW...
I really envy these ladies. Not because of the money and what they can buy but because of their personal sense of style, if you can call it personal style. I am still trying to figure out my sense of style and what works best for me. And now since I have a mortgage that takes out a huge chunk of my wage, I will have to be a little crafty with what I buy. From now on, its the op shop for me. Not that thats a bad thing. I just need to know where to look.
I also found a pattern, amongst my stock that I wanted to sell on my etsy shop, of a similar skirt that Sally Jane is wearing. I am not confident enough to try and make it but I will try to make it this weekend. Any tips from you experts out there would be appreciated. :*)
