How to keep warm...

Feline style. Like I have said it over and over again, we have been experiencing a bout of cold snaps here. So here is how the Kittys' in the Mono household is keeping themselves warm.

Toby is a heat seeker so she will seek anything that emits heat. So here she is sitting on top of M's laptop soaking up the heat. I took her off a couple of times and told her no but the kid is stubborn like her Mom. Heh...

As for Missy, I bought this Cat Cave thingie from the pet store the other day, I intentionally bought it for Toby so that she could keep warm but Toby didn't want to have anything to do with it, so Missy moved in. She is not sleeping with me on the bed anymore. I guess she doesn't need me anymore. Owh... ever since Wally moved in, Missy has been sitting across the other side of the room and eyeing the dog when I go over to talk to him. Who here thinks that she is jealous?

Pinkish...

Spending quality time with my girl. She loves sleeping on my tummy at night and SHE DROOLS!!!! Yep...she is like a dog. She drools. I think little miss Missy here is actually a dog in cat's body. She comes when you call her. She play fetch and she aim to please. Hahahaha...
Last night, we cuddled when we slept. I felt like I was hugging my teddy bear/hippo. I love my girl. Who needs a hot water bottle when youhave a cat that keeps you warm and purrs the whole night?

Problem Child

Ok. Here is my problem. Missy. She is the biggest problem in the house now and I think its getting more and more frustrating.

What did she do? Well she is a pooping machine. I swear she poops 4 times a day!!  She does not poop around the house. She knows where to poop. In the Laundry room. BUT.... you know how cats when they poop, they would cover their poop? Well Missy does not do that. She poops and leaves.  I tried showing her the motion of covering up her poop but she does not want to have anything to do with it.

Yesterday was the last straw...She pooped in the Laundry Sink. THREE TIMES!!! I don't know why she does this. Its not like I do not clean the kitty pan ever single day. I do. Toby has no problems with it. Toby is the total opposite of Missy. You know Toby has done a poop if you hear her trying to cover up her poop for 5 freaking minutes.

They do not share pooping pan. In fact they do not poop in the same room.

I don't know what to do. Missy is not behaving any better. She is playful. I think in her mind she still thinks that she is a Kitten. She is only about 22 months.

Any of you had similar problems with a cat like this? How can I teach her to poop properly in her designated pan and cover her poop up so that it will not stink up the whole house.

HELP!!!

Talking Cats...

No. That is not Toby or Missy. Eventually I want my two cats to live like this. Sleeping side by side and talking to one another.

Ok. Time to see if Toby wants to come out and play instead of being under the bed everytime Missy comes in the room.

Home Again...

Dscn6713_2After a week in the hospital, my baby girl is back home safely. She is still a little bit sore. Her pain killer patches runs out tomorrow. Thats her underneath my bed taking refuge from Missy.

She is eating and drinking as usual. Starting to see her usual self again. The Vet nurse said that Toby gave her the attitude when they try to take her tempreture, which is usual for Toby. She is back to her old self. Yippie.

So for the next three days she will continue to take her antibiotics and "hide out" in the room. Missy will have no access to my bedroom. She does not understand why she can't go in but I told her that her sister Toby is getting well.

I also bought this thing called Feliway which would help reduce stress in cats.  I bought one from Ebay and another one from the Vet. I didn't know they stock it but the doctor swears by it. Since I couldn't wait for the one on Ebay to come so I purchased the one at the Vet and when the one from Ebay comes, I will put it outside to keep Missy calm.

I didn't know I hope that its working. Toby seems calm but Toby is usually a quiet cat anyways. I will check on her behaviour again tomorrow.   Here is a few facts about Feliway...

  • Feliway® is a product which reproduces certain pacifying properties of cat facial pheromones.
  • The placing of facial pheromones is a behaviour which is well known to all cat owners. When a cat feels safe in its environment, it rubs its head from the side of the chin to the base of the ear, against the furniture, the corners of walls or the bottom of curtains. By doing this, the animal is depositing facial pheromones. These marks convey a message of well-being and a feeling of security.
  • When there is a change in the cat's environment (such as visits to the vets, return from hospitalisation, moving house, new arrivals, rearrangement of furniture) or if the cat is scared, a state of disquiet or stress may develop. This state can be expressed by changes in behaviour, such as urine marking, vertical scratching, loss of appetite or refusal to play and to interact.

The SK-R family, which is M, Missy, Toby and I, would like to thank all you guys out there for your well wishes and prayers. Your wishes and paryers has given me support to take each day at a time. THANK YOU....

Stepping Backwards...

I just had a call from the Vet. Its not looking good. The Vet said that she vomited out all her food and they did an X Ray and found nothing wrong. So they think that its an internal infection after the operation she had on Wednesday. My heart stopped when the Vet told me that news. They are pumping in antibiotics into her and we are now doing the waiting game. I hate the waiting game.

The Vet said that if she is not showing any improvement within 48 hours then I have to think about my next move. I think she was hinting that I have to make a decision to put her to sleep or continue on with treatment but then she has no guarantee that it will help.

How? Tell me how can you make such a decision? On one hand I don't think I have the courage to do it and I don't want to let her go and on the other I don't think I can bear the cost of medical bills when there is no guarantee that she will survive this rut.

We went to see her yesterday. She was responding good. At first she was all weak and no mood and didn't want to have anything to do with me then as M and I were about to leave, she started purring and I was so happy to see her purring because it meant that she is happy to see her Mom.

Ok enough now. Will keep you guys up to date.

Operate...

FattyMy poor Fatty aka Toby is still in the hospital and now the vet says that they need to do an "exploratory surgery" to find out what is lodged in her intestine. She will go to surgery this morning and the doctor will let me know right after the surgery. I am keeping my fingers cross that they find something and take it out so that she can come home. I miss her sooo much its not funny.

Still there....

"A cat is more intelligent than people believe, and can be taught any crime." -Mark Twain Notebook, 1895

Yes she is still there. The Vet said that Toby's condition did not change at all. Nothing alarming. She had her blood test and her X-rays done and the Vet said that there was nothing to be concern about. So Toby has to spend another night there while they monitor her bowel movements.
