Boootie

Pb030015It was a good thrifting day today. I got all these for less than $20!!! Imagine that!!

I went to my favourite thrift store and bought all these beautiful vintage sewing pattern. Here is how my conversation with the lady at the counter went...

Feli: Here you go.

Lady: Hmmm....50 cents for the lot.

(Feli looks at the lady in shock)

Feli: Are you sure?

Lady: Don't look at me that way.

Feli: Here I will give you a dollar for the lot.

I am amazed!! 50 cents for a whole lot of sewing patterns. Nana and I came out of the shop giggling like school girls. SCORE!!!

Ok now I got to sew.

Tea Cups...

I found these cups thrifting last week. They are going to be the base for my pincushion project. They were only $0.20 each. The dragon pair reminds me of my Gran's praying alter.

Sorting with Grunts

I woke this morning and thought maybe that I should visit my favourite thrift store, Ngala along Albany Highway for those of you in Perth. As soon as I enter the shop, I was greeted with a warm hello and was told that EVERYTHING IN THE STORE IS HALF OFF but this sweet elderly man with thick glasses. I wanted to give him a hug for making my day. I manage to find a Cake plate and a few plastic bowls for Toby and me. All these for $2.50 ONLY!! How cool is that?

After that I went down the street to Good Sammy's and found a couple of cool stuff too including 2 jars of buttons, crafty books, fabrics and sewing patterns. Here are some pictures of my loot.

While sorting my new stash of buttons, I was watching Sharapova grunting away at the Australian Open. It was an interesting game. I want to see Molik's game tonite.

Molly the cat...

P1010099 Hi meet Molly the Cat. Yes its a cat. She was inspired again by Toby. I drew her template on a piece of newspaper and transfered it to the fabric. Her face and eyes are made of felt. It didnt take me long to make her. Just under an hour. My sewing is getting better by the day. :*) More of her pictures over at my Crafty Bits album. I used a thrifted brown fabric and for her back a flowery fabric that used to be a pillow case. :*)

Since it was a nice day today, I cycled to the local op shop. Its not far. Just about 5 minutes bike ride. I couldn't get much though. I had to fit it in my back pack. But I manage to find some good stuff. I decided to make an album of my thrifted finds. Click HERE to view all the things that I found thrifting so that I dont have to bore you guys to death about it.

More Storage

P1010200 I found this thrifting. I was so happy when I found the two large jars at the back. I have always wanted jars like that. They are really heavy and I had to carry them from work and in a bus and up a hill all the way to my house. :*) But it was worth it. Now it holds my scissors and rulers. :*) both of them were for $7. They had cork lids but I threw them away. I had no need for them and they looked like they were eaten by something.

I also found those 4 expresso cups for $2. I dont know what I will do with them but they were too cute to pass up.  The brown jar with the lid on the left (in the bowl with my small scissors) I will make some lucky stars and put it in that jar. I think it would look good. :*)

Challange...

A girlfriend at work asked me to make a small make up bag for her after I gave her a P1010159 pocket tissue cover. It was a real challage for me. It had to be zippered and with a lining. So off I went to look for tutorials on Crafster. I found a few good ones so I printed them off and went to the sewing machine. Seriously, it took me all tuesday night to figure out the tutorial and I gave up at 11.30pm. So I tried again last night and I manage to do it in one hour. So here it is. A small make up bag for J at work. :*) I hope she likes it. I added a ribbon on top for grip. :*) I made another one for practice. Picture over at Feli's Crafty Bits

My Love for Enamels

I went thriftinP1010259 at my favourite places today. Some interesting finds. I found an enamel pot for $4.50, four bowls for $0.80 and a cake stand for $0.50. I also found a few fabrics that will be good for the insides of a project that I want to do for the girls. We are going to have a girls night out so I decided to make them something to remember the night. I couldnt take a picture of it because they were in the washer. :*)

I went to the craft fair but couldnt take any pictures. I saw the sign saying no pictures to be taken. So I didnt even dare take it out of my bag. It was a small craft fair. I think I spent 30 minutes there. That was how small it was. I bought shortbread cookies, cardstocks and a roll of pink ribbon.
