To those of you who know me long enough know that I have a very bad habit of biting my nails. I tried to stop a couple of times but failed. I always end up biting them after 3 weeks because I was having the "shakes" like how a drug addict get when they need their fix.
I bite my nails for a couple of reasons. Boredom, nervousness and I think most of all out of comfort. You can actually tell when how I feel by looking at my nails. Usually when I am outside my comfort zone, my nails would be the first to go. I have actually bitten my nails till they bleed!
When I was trying to quit biting my nails, I would try painting my nails so that I would bite the polish instead of the nails and we all know that nail polishes do not taste good. I tried those "stop biting" formulas where the polish is bitter to taste but all FAILED. I would peel the polish off and start biting them again.
So what makes it different this time? Weddings. Mine and my sisters. My Nepalese Wedding Reception is in December and my sister is having hers one week after that.
I was queuing up at the Chemist about 2 months ago, remember the time when I was really really sick?, I was standing by the the Nails products. Nail polishes, clippers and etc. It was a really long queue so I picked up Sally Hansen's Maximum Growth Range called "Daily Nail Growth Program" and started reading the package. It sounded interesting so I added it into my basket and paid for it.
It's the best thing next to sliced bread! I read a review of the product as soon as I got back and started my project straight away.
Exclusive silk protein formula gives nails the nourishment, strength
and protection they need to grow. The Maximum Growth Daily Nail Growth
nail polish helps to avoid peeling, chipping and splitting nails, while
also helping nails that tend to be soft or brittle and break easily. - Associated Content
For 5 days, I religiously added a coat on top of the last coat and my nails have never looked healthier. My nails are now harder, I think my soft brittle nails was also a major factor of me biting them because by the end of 3 weeks my nails would actually peel off from the side and I would go "fuck it and just bite them. They are peeling off anyways". I do not have the urge to bite them anymore because they are so hard. It's not as tasty as before. HAHA...
It was weird at first because when ever I scratch myself I now have to becareful not scratch myself too hard because my skin is not use to the nails. It feels nice though because now I do not have to get M to scratch me because he has the nails and it's actually sharper. Don't ask me why I ask him to scratch me when ever I itch. I guess never having the satisfaction of scratching myself. LOL.
Typing is also weird. To hear my nails clicking on the keyboard and my nails or fingers are not use to it but I am sure with time I will get use to it. I can actually paint my nails now and not paint the top of the finger
this time. I use to have heaps of problems with that before. Cotton
buds were always near by to clean around the edges. I feel like I am wearing acrylic nails because my nails are hard!
I will post a photo of my healthy nails tomorrow. It's currently painted in my favourite colour. RED. I bought it from OPI and it's called "A Oui bit of Red". :*)
Pray that this time it lasts!
