Le Tour De Avon Valley II

Ok I don't know where to start. Our little road trip was fantastic. The views were spectacular. We woke up early to get our things together. M said that we can have a barbie in one of the towns so Nana and I got sausages and also chicken and a couple of rolls.

After we got our things we headed out. We wanted to do Toodyay (pronounce as 2J) - Northam - York but we missed the turning to Toodyay so we did York - Northam - Toodyay and I am glad we did. The drive thorugh all those farms was breathtaking. Wow. I can not believe how green it was. I was so excited when I spotted the sheeps and the cows and the horses. YEAH I get excited and screetchy when I see farm animals.

After an hour of driving we reached York. We made a stop by the famous Town Hall to get directions to the nearest tourist attraction. We were standing outside the Hall when a friendly town's person came up and told us that the Train Station was a good place to start. We walked there and guess what? It was locked. So we couldn't get in. We then walked to the Jah Roc Gallery and saw art and furniture. There is this Huge dining table made from Jarrah that costs $45,000.00!!!! WOW.

After all the art and the expensive furniture we then made our way to Mt Brown Lookout. The view was FANTASTIC. See last post. We spent 15 minutes looking a the view and made our way down to Avon River and had our little picnic. It was a fantastic place. After lunch we laid on the mat and just chilled. I wanted to stay there and just sleep. Then we made a move the the suspension bridge. According to the book, the bridge was built in 1906.

After York, we made our way to Northam. There was nothing to do at Northam so we skipped it and went straight to Toodyay. More on Toodayay later. But now... picture time.......

Yanchep chep chep

We woke up early this morning after a not so good end night. M called up his friends and they cancelled last minute. You should see his face. I have never seen him that pissed. You see it was his friend's idea to go on the trip and the fact that they did not even bothered to give him a call saying that it was cancelled was the last straw. I told M that we could still have a good time. Nana and Amanda was coming along so it will not be that bad.

So we went to get food at the local supermarket, put it in the cooler bag, picked the 2 funnies from their place and off we went. It took us 1 hour to reach Yanchep. The weather was not on our side. It was drizzling and the sun didn't come out. Along the way we saw a sign "$1.29 for MANGOES" I told M that we have got to stop there on the way back. You can not get them that cheap in the City.

When we got to Yanchep we found a sheltered barbi and started cooking the food. The tour to the caves was at 1pm. While waiting for the food to be cooked, the chicken kebabs was delicious by the way, we saw someone's wedding. The poor things. It was raining and when the bride came it was pouring even more. The guests braved it and was under the umbrellas. I hope their wedding went well.

After lunch, we bought our tickets to Crystal Cave and drove to the entrance of the cave. If it was sunny I would have suggested that we walk becuase we would be able to spot kangaroos then but no the day decided to be cold and gloomy so we drove there instead. The guide dude came on a bike and he took us on our tour.

Whale of a Time...

Dscn2110 I can cross out watching Whales in the wile off my things to do before I die. After what seems like a never ending boat ride, we finally saw the first signs of the Whale. It was a thirlling adventure. I have never felt like that before. I had goosebumps all over me when I saw the blow coming out of the water. They were HUGGEEE and playful. The boat is not allowed to go within 100 metres of them but the whale are allowed to come near the boat. Which they did because the Marine Biologist said that they might be curious males who wants to check out whats going on.

I did not feel like we were on a massive touristy boat but instead it was a small boat with about 25 people on it. I did not get sick. Thank God for TravelCalm. :*) I took 2 before we left the house this morning. And when we reached Hillary's Boat Harbour I felt like my body was so weak because it was so CALM. So I went for a walk for about 15 minutes so that my body can adjust to being awake.

Anyways back to the whales, they were humpback whales. We were surrounded by a few pods that were swimming in the area. It was quite hillarious to see our boat going round and round chasing the pods of whales. Ok enough talking lets get on with the pictures. I soooo love my new camera with the Sports mode where you can just click on the button once and it will take multiple pictures until you let go. So here is a series of the Whale doing a tail dive before diving deep. The males can be underwater for 45 minutes and the females only 15 minutes.

Enjoy the pictures. It was not so sunny today.... click to Embiggen. :*)

Gone Fishin...

Dscn1879 Well... we went fishing today. M, his friend S and I. Before we picked up S we went to the bait shop near by and ask for advice. The shop guy gave us quite a few tips. We went to North Mole which is the absolute end of Freo. It was a beautiful place. The weather helped too. Not to hot and not too cold.

We sat there for about 3 hours with no bite and the bait being eaten by the fish. We didn't catch any so we decided to move on. We tried fishing by the river. We went to the river behind Ascott Race Course. There our luck changed. We caught a few but we couldnt bring it home becuase it was undersized. So we had to let it go. But there was this guy there with his family and he taught the guys how to fish. Like using the right hook and how to put on the bait. He was really friendly.

Well...We just got back and I just took my shower after smelling like bait all day. We had fun. M is planning to go again. I am also thinking of getting a fishing rod just so that I can sit and fish with the guys too. :*) I will load up more pictures later.

Ro-DEE-Owh or Ro-DAY-Owh?

Man owh man what a Saturday evening. What did I do? Well... I went to a Rodeo. Yep, a RODEO. It was fun. Nic was a volunteer and invited Nana and I to go along as well. It was at the State Equestrian Center, about an hour drive from Perth to the Swan Valley. It was fun. I have never been to one before and it was an eye opener, eventhough Nic, Nana, Gillian and I were the only Asians there, it was interesting!!! We were there to check for wristbands. "No wristbands No entry".

I have never seen so many horses in one small place at one time. The whole time I was thinking about Margie and her love for horses. I can see why now. The whole night I was controlling myself not to touch the horses as it may scare them or the owners won't like it. ( I was standing at the entry/exit point where the horses are gathered and it was also the entry point where the Cowboys/girls enter the Horses). I made friends with this beautiful horse. I was standing at that entry/exit point alone and was bored and he was just standing next to me so I talked to him. He was a fiesty young one. Making noises and digging the ground with his feet. I dont think that he was happy about being tied to the fence.

All creatures great and small...

Today Nana and I decided to go cycling. We wanted to see if we could go one round of the Swan River using the bike path from Perth via South Perth and back. We did but, we spent a few hours somewhere else too. P1010240 Can you guess where we went? Yep. We went to Perth Zoo. It wasn't planned at all. I just happen to say that I haven't been to the Zoo in a long time. It was a great day. I think we spent 3 hours just walking and looking at the animals. Some were cute and some were not. We didn't get to see the Meerkats (or how ever you spell it), the Girrafe, the Koalas and the Wombats.

It was a day well spent. More pictures over at my flickr album.

row ya boat...

It was an amazing Saturday. Nana and I went to the gym in the morning and had a good workout. Our muscle were telling us how sore they were this morning. After the Gym we packed our sunscreen and head to Floreat Beach to meet a couple of friends there. We had a great swim and eat. Stayed at the beach for 2 hours and head home.

But the best part is yet to come. After much convincing from a friend to attend a boat party Nana and I decided to go. We got home after the beach and got ready.
