Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel...

Last night, I had a dinner and movie date with Tiffy. We wanted to watch Coco Avant Chanel ever since I saw previews of the movies on a couple of blogs last year.

The movie was brilliant and alluring even though the movie was in French. I have to say that Audrey Tautou looked a little bit older in this film but she played her part well. The movie is about Gabrielle Chanel. She is known to the fashion world as Coco Chanel. She was left at an orphanage when she was 12 and how she moved up in society during the early 1900s. Did you know that she wanted to become an actress instead of designing clothes? Who knew right? But Chanel had an eye for clothes. She created her clothes from Menswear and alter them to fit the woman's body.

Alessandro Nivola was also really good in the movie. His English French accent was very very attracting to me. :*) Eventhough he is an American, he spoke French like a Pro. Not that I know how a real Frenchman should sound like but it was HOT. LOL.

I am glad that I got to watch it with Tiffy. She was all dressed up as well. Very French very chic. I felt underdress sitting next to her.

I give it 4/5 stars.

Half Blood Prince...

I don't care what people say. I think this movie was fantastic. Over the weened, we had a fundraising movie event which I was in the origanising comittee. Finally after trying to stop myself from watching it first I saw Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince for the first time today.

I love how the characters are now all grown up and is starting to notice the opposite sex. I am such a sucker for teenage romance and I was "awwww"ing when Hermionie was crying on Harry's shoulder when Ron and Lavander Brown were looking for an empty room to Snog. LOL.

M gave me free tickets to our local cinema, so I am going to use it to watch it again simply because I want to watch it alone so I can concentrate on the bits that I missed out.

This movie bumps "Prisoner of Azkaban" of the top of my favourite Harry Potter Movies. I cannot wait for the DVD to come out so that I can watch it over and over again in the comfort of my own home. :*) 5/5 stars for me.

Cover ups...

   

So yesterday, after my skincare consult I obviously have to put my make up on before I head back to the office. Chin the Kit consultant said that she will do it for me and she told me about these two beautiful products. The Pop Beauty No show Concealer and the Kit Mineral Foundation.

When she smeared it on my face, I was watching the red spots on my face (skin discolouration) slowly disappear. It was like MAGIC. I have never manage to find a concealer that did toned down the spots on my face. It was exciting to watch. After the concealer she added on the Mineral foundation.

Because my skin is dry, I have to get foundation that allows my skin to breath and this Kit Mineral Foundation that she used on me did the trick. The skin on my face looked FLAWLESS and smooth.

The No Show concealer has a concealer stick which you apply to your face or where you want to cover up and it also have a Concealer liquid which you apply only under your eyes to hide the black circles or eye bags. What it does is it reflects the light away from the area.

I am so tempted to get them but I have to wait until the current one that I am using is finished. Not a long way to go now.

Do you feel that all I talk about now is make up make up make up? Don't worry I won't talk about them all the time. I am just on a quest to take care of my skin now that I am getting older and my skin is not as perfect as it used to be. I am starting to get scared that if I don't take care of it, it will just get worse.

I don't get paid by these companies so what I share on the blog is my experience with the product. I will post something non beauty product related tomorrow. I promise. :*)

Origins...

So yesterday I posted about Olay's "Find the right Olay for you". Today I am going to post about Origins. I received a Kit VIP Voucher in my email yesterday saying that they have bought over the Origins Counter at Myers and I have a Free Skincare Consult if I bring along the flyer.

I have heard many many good things about Origins so I went down to the Kit counter to see what is all about. So off I went this afternoon just thinking that I would just only get the sample and then be on my merry way but noooo....

I was greeted by the manager of the store, Chin and she immediately pulled me aside and started aksing me what I wanted out of my skin care. I told her that my skin is very very dry and also I want to correct my skin tone. So she took a couple of sample jars and started work. These are the products she used on me. My goodness it smelt so so GOOD! Especially the scrub. It was good enough to EAT! You can click on the photo and it will take you to the product information page.

After the counsult, my skin felt FANTASTIC. There was no feeling of that tightness and also my skin did not feel dry. It was amazing and also my skin felt hydrated. I was also sent home with some samples to try out. I have the Skin Guardian, the high Potency Night-a-mins moisture cream and also the Checks and Balances. I am keen on the Never a Dull Moment Skin Brightening Face Polisher and also the Drink Up 10 Minute Mask. My skin just literally drank up the Mask because it went from milky colour to all clear. This means that my face is Drinking up all the moisture and it's getting hydrated. It was amazing to watch it soak it all up.

The only downside that plays a major point is the prices either I select a few that I like or buy smaller jars which I think they dont carry. I am glad that I got to try these beautiful products.

Moss Carpet...

How cool is this "Moss Carpet" from La Chanh Nguyen? It's so cool to have a little outdoors inside. Although I think Missy might have other ideas for it. *sigh*

If you don't like the musty smell of a bath mat, perhaps you'd prefer the musty smell of moss. Switzerland-based La Chanh Nguyen's interesting Moss Carpet is made from a matrix of "imputrescible foam called plastazote" that houses moss in discrete cells. Right Olay for you...

Sheryl of ExcellentMakeup.com and I are on the hunt for skincare products that is right for our skin. My skin is dry and is a little bit blotchy. I am also having problems with discolouration from  pimple scars from huge pimples that shows up all the time 1 week before I have my monthly visit from Aunt Flo. 

So far I have tried products that I can easily get from the supermarket, the pharmacist and also top of the market beauty products. I have yet to find something that I am happy with. I have to also start a more intensive routine currently, I only cleanse and moisturise. I do not scrub or do a mask at all unless I go to a facial appointment.

I need to find something that I can afford and also something that is easy to maintain.

Currently I am using Neutrogena Extra Gentle cleanser. I have been using this for a good 3 months now and it's been gentle on my skin. It doesn't dry my skin out too much and I do not have that "tight" feeling after a wash. Then after that I moiturise it with Kiehl's Ultra Face Cream and that's it. So far I am super happy with Kiehl's but I know I have to add more to my daily routine.

I received an email this morning and it was from Olay. In that email they were promoting something new called The Right Olay For You and all you have to do is answer a few of their interactive questions and they will tailor the right routine for you. I am not sure if you will receive samples but I am interested. Olay's won 4 awards for 4 of their products in the Australian Beauty Awards and two out of four of them were suggested to me by their interactive website. 

 

They say that from the website that I will see visible results in 8 weeks. I might try the cleanser next when I finish my Neutrogena Cleanser.

I don't know why but I love the look of Ashley O here. I am just drawn to it. I love her bag though. 

Smells like...

I generally do not use a lot of perfume. I use it for special occasions or if I have a long day that I can't come home and have a shower first before my next appointment. I am very particular when it comes to smells. If I use too much or if I do not like the smell I will get a major headache.Weird I know.

I will usually go for scented body lotion though. The smell tend to last longer. I will post my four favourite scented body lotion in another post. BUT.... I do love the smell of these four perfumes though. I have a small bottle of each.

Elizabeth Arden Sunflower - The smell of this perfume is not too overwhelming. The smell can last the whole day. I remember when I was a teenager and living with my cousin, we use to "share" this perfume. It takes me back to the good old days. Now it reminds me of Summer. Something I am wishing for at the moment. We are having stormy weather here at the moment.

Elizabeth Arden Green Tea - This smell is so subtle. The scent is refreshing and like it's sister the Sunflower, it will not overwhelming. I started using the scent when I tested it at our local Pharmacy and bought it because it was on Sale.

Ralph Lauren Romance - This has got to be one of my first few proper perfume. I still have the original bottle that was given to me in 1996 by my sister's ex for Christmas. The smell is a little strong for me to wear to work so I will only wear it if I know I am going to an outdoor event or coffee with a friend.

Davidoff Cool Water - This scent is very sentimantle to me. I don't know if a scent can do that to you but this one brings back a lot of memories of my University days but like Romance, it's a little bit too much if I wear it to work. So I usually spritz on some when I am feeling glamourous or when I go on a night out.
