f00d p0rn...

P1310226

After watching Nigella last night I decided to give it a go. These my dear friends are Nigella's Royal Icing Cupcake. Yummy. Delicious and a tad dry. My bad. I did not add enough milk.... owh well next time. They are easy to make too. Took me less than 1 hour to make. Here is how you make it.

CUPCAKE

This will make 12 cupcakes.

Heat up oven for 200C

  • 4oz flour
  • 4oz sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4oz unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon bi carb soda
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoon milk
  1. Blitz flour, sugar, eggs, butter, baking powder, bi carb soda and vanilla essence together until smooth.
  2. Add milk.
  3. Add one tablespoon full in each cupcake holder. (believe me this is enough)
  4. Put it in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Leave to cool

ROYAL ICING

  • 350g Royal Icing Sugar (run it through the seive)
  • 2 egg whites
  • A squeeze of lemon juice
  1. Whisk Icing sugar and egg white until fluffy. (about 5 minutes)
  2. Add lemon juice and whisk again.
  3. Add to cooled cupcakes.

I hope you like it. If you do make it, please let me know what you think. I think Nigella is the best. She had her Dessert show last night and I am going to try everything she made yesterday.

Zooooommmm

P1300164

I went to Kings Park tonight just to take night photos of Perth. I had fun. It was very windy though. Even with my tripod, some of the pictures I took were shaky. I went alone and was a little bit scared at first but then, there were so many people out and about still.

This picture I took with the Long exposure settings on. I set myself up on the side of the street and set the camera up to open the lense for 13 seconds. I kinda like the outcome. Makes it look magical and cars are moving very fast when the actual fact is they are only going 30 kilometers an hour becuase the speed limit is only 40.

My skills are slowly improving. I even know how to use the front curtain and back curtain flash now. I got very cool effects.

P1290049

Today, I went to South Perth to take photos around the area. I had a fantastic time being alone with just my camera. This picture was taken quarter to 8pm. Look how bright it is!! I was waiting for sunset and the lights to go on but I couldn't wait any more and I was hungry.

What's in the bag??

P1280049

For today's picture I decided to empty my handbag and show the world its contents. I have a lot of things in my bag but I really really need all of them. :*) Ok from the top working clockwise.

  1. My bag from Sussans.
  2. Keys.
  3. Office Mail.
  4. My 2008 Moleskine.
  5. Japanese Fabric Pen Holder.
  6. Thumb Drive.
  7. My Seal. (Actually its a stamp with my name and address on it)
  8. Olympus Camera.
  9. iPod Nano
  10. Padded case for my iPod Nano.
  11. My portable radio I got cheap from the post office. Sometimes I get sick listening to the same song over and over again.
  12. My Dopod.
  13. Zippered coin pouch.
  14. The Cancer Council Sun Screen with Insect Repellent. Yes I carry it around with me because I do go out in the sun a lot.
  15. Lucas Paw Paw Ointment. This Ointment is meant to treat nappy rash but I use it for my lips and also for cuts and gashes that I normally get. Thanks to Tiff for introducing me to this brilliant stuff.
  16. LeSportSac make up pouch. Inside it stores painkillers and womanly stuff, if you know what I mean.
  17. My Gocco printed Moleskine notebook where I jot down every single thing from shopping lists to notes on how to use my camera.
  18. My current favourite RED leather wallet bought by one of my client from some where they visited. I think its made in Germany.

Long Exposure...

P1270041

I used the long exposure settings on my camera and caught this picture. There was a scooter passing by and I got the tail light. I love the effect I got. If you look propertly you can even see a star.

I am learning more and more about my camera. I am already out of the Auto Mode :*)

A little Craftiness...

P1260058P1260059

P1260052P1260055

... on a very hot day. I made these while watching TV the whole afternoon. I am trying my hand at embroidery and also weaving.

I made this baby bib with the patterns I bought from Sublime Stitching. It was fun. The Potholders are woven. I bought the book from Borders the other day. These are addictive.

Baby bib is for one of my best friend who just had a baby on Wednesday. I will have to post it to her though. I am so excited. I am sad that I am not there to see the baby first.

The Potholders are experiments. Hopefully I will improve and maybe stock them in the shop. Its been a while since I last stock up the shop.

Aussie Aussie Aussie....

P1260030

...oi oi oi. Happy Australia Day everyone. I went down to the local park around the corner of where I live to take pictures of the Skyworks. I did not plan to even go and see the Skyworks. It was in the heat of the moment kinda thing. You could almost see it clearly from there. There were heaps of people already sitting there waiting for it to start. Armed with my radio I turned on to the Skyworks radio station I took photos of the Skyworks. I did not have my tripod with me so the pictures are a little bit shaky but I kinda like how it turn out.

Happy Birthday Australia. Thank you for accepting me as one of your own. I vow to keep your values. You are my Island home now and I am blessed.

Travels...

P1250046

After work today I met up with Tiff. We did not have our usual Friday Night Dinner tonight so we decided to go to Borders to read up on some travel books. Tiff and Nana are planning to go backpacking to South America at the end of this year. Brave girls. I just wish that I am not so afraid of flying.

I wish...

....they would all just leave his family alone in this time of mourning. I think the whole of Australia especially Perth are mourning the lost of someone this brilliant.

Have a read of what Ms Jones have to say about Heath's death. Brilliant.

Rest in peace dear Heath.
